Our Charity

Ernest Jones is proud to support Young Lives vs Cancer, a leading UK charity that supports children and young people with cancer, and their families.

Every day, 10 children and young people in the UK hear the shocking news they have cancer. Treatment normally starts immediately, is often given many miles from home and can last for up to three years. Being diagnosed with cancer is a frightening experience and the emotional, practical and financial implications of treatment are intensely challenging for the whole family.

Young Lives vs Cancer provides clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life. We are there from diagnosis onwards and aim to help the whole family deal with the impact of cancer and its treatment, life after treatment and, in some cases, bereavement.

Young Lives vs Cancer recognises that every child or young person with cancer has a different experience. Our aim is to help ensure that the whole family receives the support that works for them best, by providing:

Clinical, practical and emotional day-to-day support for young cancer patients and their families from the point of diagnosis

Financial support to help families cope with cancer costs including grants and benefits information. On average, families spend £600 more a month when their child has cancer that’s why we ensure families receive the financial support they are entitled to.

Free accommodation at our Young Lives vs Cancer Homes from Home – close to specialist hospitals so that families can be near to their children during treatment.

At-home support from our nursing teams to help reduce accommodation costs for families and minimise the emotional impact of cancer by keeping families together.

Bereavement support to help families prepare for and cope with the loss of a child. Our specialist teams are on-hand to help families with the process of losing a child by providing tailored bereavement support.

A wide range of valuable information on childhood cancer and its impact.

We also campaign and influence others to raise awareness of the needs of children and young people with cancer and to improve the support they and their families receive.

Iconic to the fundraising of Ernest Jones is Rufus, the Young Lives vs Cancer Puppy, which is sold in stores nationwide. All profits from Rufus Puppy sales will be donated to Young Lives vs Cancer.
