Diamond shapes

The traditional diamond shape is round brilliant. This is a symmetrical diamond that is capable of reflecting nearly all the light that enters and has the greatest brilliance of all diamond shapes. A round brilliant diamond is a favourite for diamond engagement rings as it is a timeless classic. It looks stunning set proudly in a six or four claw setting on a gold or platinum band.

"The shape of a diamond you choose is a matter of personal taste"

Non-round diamond shapes are known as 'fancy shapes'. An emerald cut (rectangular) or princess cut (square) diamond creates a contemporary piece of jewellery. Oval-shaped diamonds are becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to a round brilliant stone. For something a little different, consider a pear, heart or marquise-shaped diamond.
