Atelier Watch Service
Introduction to watch services
At Ernest Jones our prestige watch servicing is performed by our Atelier technicians. It is recommended by the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH that mechanical watches are cleaned and serviced every three years to ensure accurate time keeping. Quartz watches have moving parts which also require regular maintenance.

Selected Ernest Jones stores have an Atelier watch technician allocated to undertake watch maintenance and repairs. These are the watch services that we offer in store.
- Prestige watch servicing.
- Maintenance and repair.
- Water resistance testing.
- Watch bracelet repair and alteration.
- Battery replacement and testing.
- 24 month guarantee for work carried out by our dedicated Atelier technician, excluding battery replacement.
Simply take your item to your nearest Ernest Jones branch, and our staff will give you a verbal estimate and an approximation of when the repair will be complete. If the watchmaker, after examining the movement, decides more work is needed a further estimate will be sent to you.
What happens during a service?
During a full service your watch will be completely stripped and all components cleaned, and worn parts replaced. The components are then re-assembled, lubricated and all functions tested, regulated and sealed back into the ultrasonically cleaned case. Testing takes place over a 5 day period where timekeeping, positional error regulation and power reserves are tested.

Our highly skilled Atelier technicians are additionally trained by Rolex, Breitling, Omega and Gucci. They use classic techniques and state of the art equipment to repair, service and maintain your timepiece to the highest standard. If you would like your watch to be sent to the manufacturer for maintenance, you must request this when leaving your watch with us.
