Honouring the brand’s pursuit of accuracy, rugged design and pioneering spirit, BALL Watch Company launches its first in-house manufacture chronometer movement, the BALL RRM7309-C.

For those who appreciate mechanical timepieces, finding one’s timepiece stops frequently due to a lack of power is a major discouragement. In light of this, the caliber RRM7309-C is equipped with 80 hour power reserve, ensuring that it will still be running accurately on Monday after having taken it off on the previous Friday night. Generally speaking, the higher the frequency of a mechanical movement, the more power is required to make it run. Hence, the most straightforward way to extend a movement’s power reserve is to simply lower its frequency. Yet, the frequency of a movement is positively correlated with its accuracy, lowering the frequency will also decrease the accuracy of the movement. In facing this conundrum, BALL decided to give up the obvious easy route to achieve the 80 hour power reserve and maintaining the 28,800vph high frequency.

Caliber RRM7309-C

Every caliber RRM7309-C is rigorously tested by Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) for its quality and accuracy. The polishing of the movement further shows the brand’s passion behind the creation of its first in-house caliber, employing ribbing, perlage and spiral patterns, the RRM7309-C is beautifully decorated.

The Engineer M Marvelight combines a sporty character with a classic watch design, all while enhancing BALL’s luminescent technology.

Easy legibility of a timepiece both by day and by night is one of BALL’s mottos, therefore the dial and hands of all BALL timepieces are fitted with luminescent micro gas tubes. This state-of-the-art Swiss technology consists in encapsulating H3 gas in glass micro tubes. Light energy is released when the H3 molecules strike the internal colored surface of the tubes. This phenomenon can last up to 25 years without requiring recharge from any outside light or energy source. The powerful light emitted naturally and continuously by the H3 gas means that you can read the time in pitch darkness.

Likewise, the Engineer M Marvelight understated and elegant dial is kept free of any unnecessary detail that could reduce its readability.

The BALL logo has been added to the discreet graduations around the outside edge of the dial, along with the prestigious “Swiss Made” manufacturing origin’s designation and the Chronometer mention as a pledge of accuracy. As a trademark logo on many of the brand’s classic models, the RR (“RailRoad”) monogram stands out delicately at the end of the seconds hand and subtly recalls BALL’s railroad heritage. This timepiece also features the Amortiser® patented anti-shock system for an even higher accuracy in case of external shocks. The water resistance to 100 meters is also improved by the screw-in crown. Finally, this chronometer can withstand impacts of up to 5,000Gs and is protected against magnetic fields to an intensity of 4,800A/m.
