Bremont; British craft and industry at its best

2020 has been a temperamental year to say the least, but that hasn’t stopped Bremont in their bid to solidify their status as a titan of British industry and innovation. Following 5 years of planning and development, the new Bremont Manufacturing & Technology Centre, affectionately known as ‘The Wing’, was initially scheduled to open in Summer 2020; sadly, fate had other plans.

Despite this, Bremont report that the new build has been progressing extremely well with a new opening date of Spring 2021 tentatively penned in the diary. The Wing, based in Culden Faw Estate, South Oxford, will be the home of Bremont’s machining, watch assembly, and after-sales.

As a centre for development and innovation, further work on the new headquarters are designed to firm up the iconic brand’s legacy as British-based watchmaking experts.

Bremont takes flight with the ionBird chronometer

2020 was also a big year for Bremont where partnerships are concerned, joining teams with Rolls Royce as they attempt to beat the airspeed record in an electric plane. This is more than just a partnership, however. Bremont has been involved in designing the plane’s cockpit, which will feature the iconic stylings of the brand in the form of a Bremont stopwatch.

To celebrate the occasion and to share it with the wider Bremont family, the brand has also released the ionBird chronometer. Not only will Rolls Royce pilots be wearing the stunning timepiece on record-breaking flights, but it will also be available to horology fans the world over.

The ionBird comes in a 43mm titanium case housing with a chronometer-rated GMT movement alongside Bremont’s remarkable anti-shock technology – a stunning watch for record-breaking aspirations.

Bremont across the UK in 2020

The luxurious, British-made brand is known for its timeless, appealing designs, some of which have resonated particularly well with watch fans in 2020. The Bremont ALT 1 series, for example, has seen great popularity in the London area, with iconic series such as the Bremont Armed Forces line being favoured in the north.

What the influencers are saying about Bremont in 2020

Bremont’s industrious 2020 has certainly appealed to watch lovers. We spoke to Andrew Chrystal, owner of popular watch enthusiasts Instagram page @watchandrew, to get an influencer’s perspective on the iconic brand…

Andrew, Watch Owner

So Andrew, what makes Bremont watches so special?

I’ve always loved watches, but it was when my knowledge started to match my passion that I became aware of Bremont and my love affair with a great British brand began.

Initially the designs caught my eye and on closer inspection the quality blew me away once I had the watches in hand, mix that with the fact they are all chronometers and it’s obvious that I could have a watch that would last a lifetime.

My grandfather and father served in the military so Bremont’s strong connection with the Armed Forces was very appealing and resonated a sense of pride which they continue to do with their other partnerships.

2020 has seen some great new releases but 2 have made an instant impact on me personally and another watch purchase is on the horizon! The new ionBird is a GMT to celebrate being the official timing partner of Rolls Royce, this is a watch I could wear all day every day, there are simply too many great watches to choose from.

I own the Bremont Broadsword so I’m well aware of its qualities but when a new release in bronze with a blue dial came out my heart melted… what’s better than a Bremont Broadsword? I’d say 2 Bremont Broadswords!

Talk us through your top 5 Bremont watches

Bremont Broadsword

Bremont Broadsword

The watch that started it all for me, a watch that celebrates Britain’s Armed Forces and gives me a personal connection to this stunning watch.

At 40mm it sits great on the wrist with an understated design that is easy and comfortable to wear, the case back is a lovely design and a really nice touch.

The strap and buckle that come with the watch have a military feel and are tough as nails.

The new bronze version is now challenging my own Bremont’s for top spot status in my collection.

Bremont Supermarine s300

Bremont Supermarine s300

The white dial with blue ceramic bezel is as durable as it is beautiful.

Bremont’s trademark triptick case is solid & reliable while being one of the main reasons I love all Bremont watches.

At 40mm, it’s a great size and is versatile enough to make a one watch collection stand out.

This is number 2 on my list for a reason, I’m very close to making it my next watch…

Bremont ALT1 World Timer

Bremont ALT1 World Timer

The first time I laid eyes on this watch was when I met a new work colleague for the first time, it looked fantastic and I had instant watch envy!

There are several variations of this watch, but the blue is the clear winner for me, a watch that can do it all and look good in every situation - I will own this watch one day.

Bremont Jaguar MKII

Beast by name and beast by nature, a truly beautiful chronograph which has to be held to fully understand the quality of this vintage-inspired future classic.

Brilliant details with the dial replicating a vintage E-type Jaguar are very cool and the display casebook is a thing of wonder with the rotor replicating an E-type sterling wheel.

If you are looking for vintage vibes with modern technology this is the watch for you, I simply love it.

Bremont SOLO

Bremont SOLO

I have the white dial version on a black leather strap and it's an awesome ‘all-rounder'.

The polished hour markers really reflect the light, and the watch is a great mix of elegant and adventure all in one.

It looks amazing on other leather straps & NATO combinations while the white dial goes with any outfit I own.

If I’ve got a meeting at work or it’s a walk with the kids, the Solo takes it in its stride.
