Jan Maarten Asscher AT ERNEST JONES

“Inspired by bejeweled elements of the British Crown Jewels, a unique collection of rings, pendants and earrings, highlighting the finest of craftsmanship”

Passionate artisans and experts of the diamond industry since 1854, the Asscher family are one of the most famous diamond dynasties in history. In 1903, they were responsible for the cleaving, cutting and polishing of the 995 carat Excelsior, which remains the second largest rough diamond of gem quality ever found. In 1908, Joseph Asscher (Jan Maarten’s Great Uncle) was responsible for cleaving, cutting and polishing the Cullinan diamond, the largest rough diamond at 3106 carats. This was cut into 9 diamonds ranging from 9 carats to the “Great Star of Africa”, a 530 carat diamond that adorns the King Sovereign Sceptre of the British Crown Jewels. From the Cullinan diamond also came the 317carat rectangular cushion cut diamond that is in the Imperial State Crown. The Jan Maarten Asscher collection takes inspiration from this family legacy, and is exclusive to Ernest Jones within the UK. Each piece is independently certified by International Gemmological Institute. This diamond report will show excellent cut, excellent polish, excellent symmetry and relevant colour, clarity and carat weight specific to each individual centre diamond. The Jan Maarten Asscher collection is minimum G-H colour, minimum clarity SI2 clarity.
