DKNY design history

Donna Karan was born in 1949, in Queens, New York. She grew up in Long Island and trained at Parson's School of Design, entering the business herself designing for Anne Klein. From designing for this legendary American leisure wear designer, Donna Karan went on to running the company. Later launching her own range under the title Donna Karan.

Clothes, jewellery and watches

Karan has always insisted that she would only design clothes that she herself would wear. Her Essentials range and her line of elastic bodysuits won her company instant recognition. The Essentials line offered seven easy pieces that every woman should have in her closet. The success of these early lines allowed Donna Karan to build one of the biggest brands in the world when she launched the DKNY range. Her empire has grown to encapsulate jewellery, watches and designer accessories as well as her famous clothes lines.
