With a purpose to pursue timekeeping excellence, Seiko has grown into a global presence. Renowned for horological innovation with a stream of world firsts including the first TV & voice recording watches, Seiko created the first ever quartz watch in 1969. Seiko delivers the precision & beauty of Japanese aesthetics, brought to life through total in-house manufacture.
History
The story of Seiko begins in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori founded a clock repair store in central Tokyo. Just eleven years later his company made its first clock and, in 1895, its first watch. Today, with Kintaro's great grandson, Shinji Hattori at president, Seiko Watch Corporation is still dedicated to the perfection that the founder always strove to achieve.
The secret of Seiko’s success lies in its ability to innovate in every area of the watchmaker’s art. Thanks to this breadth of expertise, Seiko has found synergies between technologies that have spurred further innovations. Today, Seiko is a true ‘manufacture,’ making its own components, from advanced IC’s to balance springs, and it is the only ‘manufacture’ to include all the watchmaking technologies; mechanical, quartz, Kinetic, Spring Drive and GPS Solar.
Seiko still dreams of new adventures in time and continues to expand the limits of watchmaking, using the synergy of its technologies and a dedication to the vision of its founder to make pioneering discoveries and advances that will enchant future generations of watch lovers.
