Our Diamond Sourcing Policy

Signet Jewellers is strongly committed to a conflict-free supply chain. This brochure explains how we ensure that all the materials in the jewellery we sell are conflict-free and responsibly sourced.

As the world's largest retailer of diamond jewellery, we lead by example. Our dedication to product integrity is at the core of how we do business.

We collaborated with industry partners in the supply chain to advance rigorous sourcing standards through the Signet Responsible Sourcing Protocol (SRSP).

  • The SRSP is designed to ensure that Signet's supply chain is free of any contribution to conflict or human rights abuses.
  • Signet developed the SRSP to establish a global, best-practice standard for our entire supply chain, comprising legal requirements, United Nations guiding principles, and a process of continuous improvement.
  • The SRSP goes beyond the legal requirements, implementing best-practice standards for supply chain due diligence.

Signet Leadership

Leading continuous improvement across the industry

Signet works with governments, trade associations, non-governmental organisations and jewellery suppliers around the world to develop, implement and continuously improve responsible sourcing standards.

Founding and Certified Member of the Responsible Jewellery Council

Signet is a Founding and Certified Member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), which offers suppliers an internationally recognized standard to audit and certify their business practices. Signet requires all its suppliers to become Certified RJC Members, over time.

Conflict-free Gold Sourcing

In 2018, Signet was one of only four companies, and the only jewellery company, to report a conflict-free gold supply chain for the fifth consecutive year to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Conflict-free Diamond Sourcing

The Kimberley Process (KP)

The KP is the foundation for transparency and integrity of the global trade in rough diamonds, and we support this process.

All countries which export or import rough diamonds must be a member of the KP and adhere to its requirements.

Signet is a member of the World Diamond Council (WDC), which works to promote reforms to the KP that will enable it to remain meaningful in addressing important challenges in the diamond supply chain.

The System of Warranties

All rough and polished diamonds bought or sold by Signet and our banners include the System of Warranties statement developed by the International Diamond Manufacturers Association, the World Federation of Diamond Bourses and the WDC:

"The diamonds herein invoiced have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with United Nations resolutions. The seller hereby guarantees that these diamonds are conflict-free, based on personal knowledge and/or written guarantees provided by the supplier of these diamonds."
