TAG Heuer: The Return of Autavia

TAG Heuer: The Return of Autavia

The legendary TAG Heuer Autavia is back for 2019 with revolutionary Isograph technology and an automotive-inspired design.

Ernest Jones - Editor

It is impossible to tell the history of TAG Heuer without mentioning its iconic Autavia collection of timepieces. The name is drawn from the brand’s two biggest passions – automobiles and aviation. In fact, the very first Autavia timepieces created from 1933 to 1957 were dashboard timers installed in cars and aeroplanes. In 1962, the first TAG Heuer Autavia Chronograph wristwatch was created and in 2003 the watch was revitalised for a new generation of loyal chronograph watch fans.

Launch of the new TAG Heuer Autavia Isograph

Unlike its predecessors, such as this TAG Heuer Autavia Men’s Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch, the new generation of TAG Heuer Autavia Isograph timepieces do not have a chronograph complication and have been completely redesigned for today’s urban and outdoor adventurers.

The word isograph refers to the ground-breaking technology housed inside the new Autavia, namely a state-of-the-art oscillator with a carbon composite hairspring and tailor-made balance wheel. These expertly crafted components result in high-precision and improved accuracy, even if shocks, temperature fluctuations or magnetic fields get in the way. Plus, this exceptional Swiss-made automatic movement is chronometer-certified, which means it has been tested and approved by the independent Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC).

The design of the new TAG Heuer Autavia isograph range has also been updated, with elements inspired by the cockpit of an aeroplane. Highlights include rhodium-plated and SuperLuminova® coated Arabic numerals and hands, and a specially designed retro crown for ease-of-use. Turn these watches over and you will notice a striking homage to the history and heritage of the Autavia collection: the case back is engraved with a tyre and propeller to symbolise its dashboard timer origins.

The TAG Heuer Autavia isograph has a 42mm stainless steel case and is fitted with your choice of stainless-steel bracelet or leather strap in brown or black colourways. The fine-brushed and polished stainless-steel case is available with a black or blue ceramic bidirectional bezel and sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating for legibility in all conditions.
